PM Surya Ghar Yojana – Solar Rooftop Subsidy Scheme

The PM Surya Ghar Yojana is a way for people to save money on energy costs.

For individual homeowners: Enjoy up to 300 units of free electricity every month and subsidies of up to ₹78,000 under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

For housing societies: Install rooftop solar systems up to 500 kW capacity and receive subsidies of ₹18,000 per kW, with a maximum subsidy of ₹9,000,000. Power your community with clean energy, reduce electricity costs, and contribute to a greener environment.

Who can apply?

  • Indian residents with a valid electricity connection

  • Homeowners with suitable rooftop space

  • Consumers who have not availed any previous rooftop solar subsidy

  • Domestic/residential category users

Subsidy Structure (Residential rooftop solar)

  • 1 kW System: ₹30,000 subsidy

  • 2 kW System: ₹60,000 subsidy

  • 3 kW System: ₹78,000 subsidy (maximum benefit) 

  • Subsidy is directly deposited to beneficiary’s bank account after installation & inspection.

How to Apply (Easy Steps)

  1. Visit National Rooftop Solar Portal

  2. Register with your Mobile Number & Consumer Number

  3. Submit the rooftop solar application

  4. Select an approved vendor

  5. Complete installation

  6. Inspection by DISCOM

  7. Receive the subsidy directly to your bank account
